Looking Forward to 2017!!!

Greetings!

I’m sure that I speak for many when I say that 2016 was an interesting year. However, this has not stopped the flow for Black Nonbelievers. From celebrating our 5th Anniversary in January and featuring Civil Rights legend Annie Pearl Avery (presentations from both events can be found on our YouTube channel, BlackNonbelieversInc), representing at this year’s Reason Rally in DC, and establishing an affiliate in my hometown of New York City, we continue to be on a roll well into the future!

Of course, this wouldn’t be possible without your support and participation. We really appreciate our donors, members and volunteers – it is because of you that we are able to increase the visibility and provide community for Black atheists and religion doubters where there is none in family and friends.

But do you remember this year’s episode of ABC’s Blackish about atheists (profiled by Hemant Mehta, The Friendly Atheist here: Blackish Atheist Episode)? It shows that we still have a long way to go with normalizing atheism in the Black community, and for others to know that Black Nonbelievers exists. Our work needs to continue, and your tax deductible contributions make it happen. If you aren’t already a regular contributor, it’s not too late to sign up on our website!

In closing, I would like to once again say thank you all for a wonderful year. And get ready for our grand event for 2017, which is our Convention at Sea. Featured speakers include Jeremiah Camara, Sikivu Hutchinson, Bria Crutchfield, and more!

Have a very Happy New Year, and may we all continue on our paths to reason and a better life!

Sincerely,
Mandisa L. Thomas
