Greetings!
We have come to yet another conclusion of a calendar year. And as we prepare for 2025, here at BN, we extend our love, care, and understanding to everyone who is struggling with optimism, especially as we anticipate an intense fight for our human rights for the next 4 years (and possibly beyond).
We remained committed to you, to continue building back better and diligently providing our community advocacy and support in these years to come.
2024 brought us some wonderful highlights to share:
– Welcomed Edith Gray as our host for In The Cut, our livestream show on YouTube.
– Featured another full season of In The Cut, where we welcomed back Dr. Anthony B. Pinn, and welcomed first time guests, social commentator F.D. Signifier, American Ethical Union President Khandra Sears, and more.
– Represented on Across Generations and Middle Ground to discuss atheism from a Black community perspective.
– Co hosted the 6 part Can We Talk? End of Life preparation series with Compassion and Choices.
– Welcomed Chris Cameron and Derek Colanduno to our Board of Directors, who diligently assisted in updating our organizational bylaws.
– Jointly awarded the 2024 Hurston Scholarship to David Anezi, with the Secular Student Alliance.
– Tabled at the Gwinnett County (GA) Black History Month Celebration, at Juneteenth Celebrations in Atlanta and Chicago, and at the annual DragonCon event in Atlanta.
– Hosted another successful BN Seacon, which featured Kristie Puckett, Teddy Reeves, Candace Gorham and more.
In 2025, we will need your support more than ever. Which is why we are pleased to roll out our brand new membership platform, which includes affordable options for individuals, families, and students. Your membership to BN includes discounts to events, ability to vote and run for officer positions, exclusive access to information and networking, and much more.
Membership is open to all nonreligious people and those questioning their beliefs, and we still welcome all forms of financial support. But our commitment to improvement will take the help of all of you.
There is still time to make your end of year contribution if you haven’t already. Your donations are tax deductible, and really help support our community work.
Thank you all for being an important part of the BN community. Once again, we are committed to our work, and that is with your help. We cannot do this without you.
Here’s looking to 2025, and working harder and better than EVER!
Sincerely,
Mandisa L. Thomas
