Support Our October Scary Candy Corn Challenge!

Candy Corn. Besides the current administration, it’s one of my LEAST favorite things. 

However at BN, we are committed to our advocacy, community building, representation and support for Black nonreligious people and our allies. And in our resistance the administration’s attacks on our rights with their Christian Nationalist agenda,  after 40+ years, I will eat the dreaded candy corn to reach our $15,000 fundraising goal.

An often overlooked aspect of community is holding space for joy and laughter, especially in times of despair. And when the going gets tough, we find creative ways to sustain our work. This is where the scary candy corn challenge comes in for this month of October, where we celebrate the Fall season and Halloween.

Between our GoFundMe campaign and direct donations, we have raised over $2,300 so far. That means we need $12,700 more to reach our goal. And once we do, me, Cynthia (ChiTown affiliate leader), and Kellie (Detroit affiliate leader) will setup a livestream for our community members who are well acquainted with our stance on candy corn to watch us eat our words.

Of course, this is much more than us having some fun while fundraising. Please watch this video to learn more about why BN’s work is so important. Building and maintaining our secular communities is extremely important to saving our democracy, and we need your support now more than ever.
