Greetings,
We are in the season of thanks in the United States. And at Black Nonbelievers, we acknowledge that the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday leaves a lot to be desired, especially as we anticipate the January of next year. However, we also acknowledge that Thanksgiving and harvest celebrations are quite common throughout the world, which was also true for the people who were indigenous to this land. And it is with this in mind that we pay tribute and join in saying our heartfelt thanks to all who have supported us in 2024.
There are more reasons for us to be thankful here at BN.
I am thankful for our new Board members, Chris Cameron and Derek Colanduno, who joined Lisa Dyer, Deana Williams and myself. We have updated our organizational Bylaws, and will also be rolling out some great new programs to keep members and supporters engaged and encouraged for the future.
I am grateful for our movement partners, particularly the Secular Coalition for America, who protects equal rights of Nonreligious Americans from their headquarters Washington, D.C. As well as the Secular Student Alliance, who empowers and supports nonreligious students. We are proud to have partnered on the Hurston scholarship for Black nonreligious students since 2020, and it is with your support that this is possible.
Giving Tuesday is approaching on December 3rd, and we implore you to consider your support on that day, and even before. We must keep connecting with those who need the crucial community support that we provide.
It is a season of thanks here at BN, and we hope that these upcoming days are meaningful and productive. We have a road ahead of us, but we are ready.
We are truly thankful for YOU!
Sincerely,

Mandisa L. Thomas
