Last week, I had the honor of participating in the first ever African Freethought Music and Arts Festival in Lagos, Nigeria. This event, which was founded and led by Dr. Leo Igwe, took place at the University of Lagos from October 16-17th, and included performances, exhibits, a student talent competition, and a roundtable discussion on how the arts can influence secular activism across the African Diaspora.

Through the articles Talking Drums by Dr. Igwe and Unchained Melodies by festival co organizer Dominic Ingye, one can get a glimpse into this amazing experience. And I will add that the connection to our fellow activists in places where are REALLY needed has only inspired me to continue our important work here at BN.
I just ask that you join us in doing so. Our futures depend on it.
Sincerely,

Mandisa L. Thomas
