Black Nonbelievers (BN) is a 501 c3 non-profit organization. Headquartered in the Atlanta area, BN provides an informative, caring, festive and friendly community, and connects with other Blacks (and allies) who are living free of religion and might otherwise be shunned by family and friends. Instead of accepting dogma, we believe truth and morality are determined through reason and evidence.

According to Pew Research, Blacks/African Americans still make up one of the highest percentages of the religiously affiliated in the United States. Because of the role that the church plays in the Black community, it is extremely challenging to openly identify as an atheist or nonbeliever, creating a powerful sense of isolation for many.

Black Nonbelievers provides support for and increases awareness of the growing number of Blacks who are free of religious belief. Our work directly increases diversity not only within the Black community, but also the secular community. And we welcome everyone regardless of sexuality, gender identity, age, national origin or race.
