BN is proud to welcome Deana Williams to our Board!
Deana is a writer, director, producer, a mother of a very witty 10 year old, and a proud member of the LGBT community. She began questioning religion as early as middle school while growing up within the Catholic tradition. Deana realized she didn’t know a single black atheist until she found Black Nonbelievers, and has felt supported within all the intersections of her life by this vibrant community. Deana looks forward to helping us grow through her leadership.
Deana is also one of the authors for this statement and report that is in response the December 2022 former affiliate leaders’ departure. Note: There is some sensitive information contained in this report, so we ask that you keep an open mind, and review objectively.

For example, we recently satisfied the State of Georgia’s charitable organization requirements (previously unknown to us), so we are in compliance with both Federal and State guidelines for fundraising.
I am so happy with how we are rebuilding our team while we continue our work. And it is your support and dedication that keeps us going. We are looking forward to a very exciting summer, and we hope that you will be a part of it.
